Tuesday poem #94 : Kate Greenstreet : from The End of Something
0 3 8 8 7
Still alive?
Yes. But she doesn’t smile back.
A good person
who gets worn down.
It’s not a theme, it’s a problem.
We come and go.
But doesn’t goodness require one
to keep up? To not give in?
Or is it just the hope to do no harm.
She walks to the corner of the field.
The past? Nothing. New people,
nothing.
She sees him, but she doesn’t know him.
She’s wearing his coat.
Kate Greenstreet's book Young Tambling was published in 2013 by Ahsahta Press. Her previous books are The Last 4 Things and case sensitive, also with Ahsahta. For more about Kate, visit her site at kickingwind.com.

Kate manages to say only what is absolutely at the core of everything, what is true. I value her work.
