Tuesday poem #93 : Susan Lewis : We Might

think to pause redemption for a public service pronouncement, jingling like a ring of keys (off). The losers caged. Interruptions erupting to the fullness of time, main-lined & eventful as kitten gifs or self-amputation, imputations tragic as circus beasts gamboling with counterfeit pleasure, sad layers (painted & latent) clowning past our timid hearts. While laughter’s double edges touch & mask what we avoid. Blood splashed on winning screens training innocents like trick ponies, appled by the dubious, pushed to pony up reluctant rationales (seen & raised), doubts razed in the rush from judgment. Uncompassed thought fired & crisped, taking force for freedom—until it takes us.
